Right in the heart of the Mediterranean is the Island of Formentera, the smallest of the Pityusic Islands. Spanning some 82 kilometres, the island boasts more than seven Caribbean-style beaches and calas (bay beaches). Formentera’s population stands at 12,216, and its good weather and unparalleled landscapes have undoubtedly placed it among the world’s foremost destinations, which in turn earned it a declaration of World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999.
